MY PERSONAL PROJECT
Exhibition
For my personal project, I created my own Dutch children's book aimed at 6-10-year-olds called "De Maanreis met de Mimi's en de Momo's".Â
These were the criteria I developed that applied to my project:
0: doesn't reach any standard described below
1-2: Writes a novel of poor quality. It contains very little text, illustrations and is less than 10 pages long. The book doesn't have a storyline or is very difficult to understand and unorganized. The novel does not have a proper beginning and ending. It has an unclear cover that doesn't include the author's name or the title of the book. The book looks and includes writing that is inappropriate for the target audience (kids aged 6-10). The cover of the novel is not attention-grabbing and the language use (grammar, diction, vocabulary) is of poor quality.
3-4: Shows minimal understanding of story and writing by using a limited amount of words and writing form. The language used and story is somewhat appropriate for target audience but still a bit unclear and illustrations are also limited. Has a pale, a bit inappropriate cover that does contain the title of the book nor does it state the author and illustrator. The bookcover is boring and not really attention-grabbing for the target audience. The font used is unsuitable and/or at times unclear. There is a limited amount of information on the author.
5-6: Writes a novel with a clear storyline. Uses appropriate language (grammar, vocabulary, diction), illustrations, and book writing form. The novel has a clear ending and has a good book cover with an obvious author, illustrator, and title which makes it a clear, attention-grabbing front. The book contains clear chapters and font. At the back of the book, it contains a section "about the author".
7-8: Produces a colorful, good quality, and organized novel. Uses very clear and makes excellent use of language (grammar, vocabulary and diction), illustrations, and writing form. Uses colors that are suitable for the age range and makes sure the novel has a storyline with a very clear beginning and ending. The back of the book includes an anecdote of the story within the novel. The novel is typed with a clear font and font size. The book cover is colorful and suitable for the target audience and portrayed clearly what the book is about. The cover is attention-grabbing and stands out, meaning it invited the target audience to pick up the book and read it. The back of the book contains a thorough yet appropriate paragraph on the author.
